Possibly one of Dubai's most expensive restaurants, but to my mind undoubtedly the best. If you want to shell out some Dhs 300 ($82) for a Wagyu steak, then this is the place to do it. The lobster bisque (served with some appropriately bijou clams popping out of it) is so rich in stock that it starts to go gelid as you get near the end. The mood and service can't be faulted, the cookery is stylish, done to perfection and just the right side of design over content to make your tastebuds pop as much as your eyeballs.

This, then, is the stuff.

I agree with that one. Spouse & I went last week and had a truly excellent meal. My Nebraska strip steak was the best steak I'd eaten in a very long time.

My only gripe was that with the exception of a rather peculiar, nearly liquified foie gras with a carmelized peach and brandy(?)crust (which my husband said was good, but odd), all of the starters contained seafood (to which we're allergic). So I had dessert instead.

Otherwise, I could not fault the meal or the restaurant, and will certainly go back. (FYI- cocktails for two, wine for one, water, a starter, two mains, various side dishes and one dessert came to about 1000 dhs.)

I sympathise with the seafood peeve, having a fish-averse partner of my own! The menu at MG does seem to change quite a bit - a good thing and, for those going back for that memorable dish, sometimes a bad one too! I used to love the bisque, but a recently recommended friend said it wasn't on the list any more...
